With reference to your letter of the 20th July on the subject of the use of Arc Suppression Coils on the electricity system of the China Light and Power Company, Limited at Hong Kong, I am directed by the Electricity Commissioners to state, for the information of the Secretary of State, that they are satisfied that the installation of such coils does not in any way interfere with the safety of the operation of the system of supply on which they are placed. The Commissioners therefore do not see any objection to Clause 17 of the Regulations made under the Hong Kong Electricity Supply Ordinance, 1911, being varied to allow Petersen Coils to be used.
